Tamar Valley Walnuts

The cool climate, abundant rainfall and rich earth allow us to grow a bountiful crop of sweet, fresh and healthy walnuts.

The Smart & Healthy Nut

Unique among nuts, walnuts contain the highest amount of plant-based omega-3 essential fatty acid and have higher antioxidant activity than any other common nut. Dozens of studies have confirmed walnuts help reduce your risk for heart disease. They may also lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Location

Planted more than 20 years ago, our orchard sits in the heart of the beautiful Tamar Valley. The cool climate, abundant rainfall and rich earth allow us to grow a bountiful crop of sweet, fresh and healthy walnuts. Our 4500 trees are perfectly positioned at 41 degrees latitude and 177 metres above sea level for the slow and gentle ripening of our precious harvest, producing walnuts of the highest quality.

The Harvest

Our cooler climate and boutique operation allows our walnuts to grow slowly but surely for harvest in late March to early April. Harvest is a gradual process carried out by skilled operators over several days to collect the ripened walnuts at their absolute premium condition ready for sale direct to the consumer or retailer either shelled or unshelled.

The Orchard

Well-tended and cared for trees produce the best walnuts and our 4500 trees are lovingly maintained. The orchard unfurls over 10 hectares and is fully irrigated by a dam and a bore, complementing the high rainfall when needed. The crop matures slowly over the year, flowering in spring and forming the fleshy green drupe that is the tree’s fruit, which protects the walnut within.
